Impact of the Task Force Gala

The National LGBTQ Task Force Gala has been an important South Florida tradition for almost a quarter of century. It allows the LGBTQ community and its supporters to come together and celebrate, honor heroes of the movement, and raise money for the community on both the local and national levels. The event is produced by, and in support of, the National LGBTQ Task Force. We are committed to forward-thinking progressive change, both locally and nationally. The Task Force also donates a portion of the proceeds raised at the Gala and its sister event, Winter Party Festival, to like-minded community advocacy groups in South Florida, through a grant-making process administered by the LGBTQ Community Fund of The Miami Foundation. In 2020, the Task Force donated $207,000 to the Miami Foundation, money which was then distributed to 11 local LGBTQ organizations doing work on behalf of transgender youth, seniors, and people of color in the community. Since 2005, we’ve given back more than $3.3 million and supported nearly 90 community organizations in South Florida. The money we raise and give away plays an essential role in empowering and elevating the community.

A large portion of the money raised at the 2020 Gala will fund the Task Force’s Queering Democracy Initiative, which includes a “Queer The Vote” campaign. The Gala will serve as a platform to encourage everyone to vote during this year’s crucial November 3 election.
