Impact of the Task Force Gala

The National LGBTQ Task Force Gala has been an important South Florida tradition for more than 25 years. It allows the LGBTQ+ community and its supporters to come together and celebrate, honor heroes of the movement, and raise money to advance full LGBTQ+ equality both locally and nationally. The event is produced by, and in support of, the National LGBTQ Task Force.

Over the last year, the Task Force has worked to train and educate over 3,000 LGBTQ+ community leaders across the country through our annual Creating Change Conference and Creating Change 365, our new, year-round educational programing. We will launch “Queer the Vote” for 2022, a civic engagement campaign to engage, educate and mobilize LGBTQ+ rights supporters while creating paths to activate and organize with direct action, with a focus on Florida as a key state where we can have an impact. The Task Force continues to Queer the Census by working with the Census Bureau directly as it takes steps to count LGBTQ people intentionally and in a more inclusive manner, improving their data to ensure that the quality of life for many underserved and undercounted communities are met. The Task Force provides training and technical assistance on an on-going basis to LGBTQ leaders and organizations in more than 20 states.

The Task Force also donates a significant portion of the proceeds raised at the Gala and its sister event, Winter Party Festival, to like-minded community advocacy groups in South Florida. Since 2005, we’ve given back more than $3.3 million and supported nearly 90 community organizations in South Florida. The money we raise and give away is made possible only with your support, and plays an essential role empowering and elevating the community. Thank you.

The National LGBTQ Task Force’s “Queer the Vote” Initiative

As the cornerstone of any democracy, free and accessible voting rights are a crucial component of an inclusive, equitable society. LGBTQ+ people have been historically marginalized in our society and have not had our voices heard in the political process. In every election, LGBTQ+ voters can make the difference to help build a democracy that works for us as LGBTQ+ people. We highly encourage ALL LGBTQ+ citizens and allies to register to vote and cast your ballot to make your voice heard. Learn more about the National LGBTQ Task Force’s “Queer the Vote” initiative.
